Registry Submission Form
The registry is currently
undergoing a transfer into the new software. The pages/years transferred
to date are linked on the
new Registry index page
and are no longer linked below. As a result of this major
undertaking, the registry will be split between the old pages and new
pages... apologies for this inconvenience until the transfer process is
complete. |

| * Listed production numbers
are unverified at this time, but are close to the actual numbers, based
on the VIN-splits on record. Karmann's published production number
of total Cabriolets built is 388,522. ** Estimation based on a 6%
annual loss of above-listed production numbers up to the year 2011.
The total remaining is currently an estimated 23-33% of total produced. The 6%
is an average based on published European registration figures over the
past 20 years.
Those "In the Registry" numbers
that are highlighted have
had entries added or updated with the last update. |

How to Submit A
Cabriolet to the Registry |
To submit a Cabriolet for inclusion in the registry, please fill out
the form below; not all information is actually required, but the more info
provided the better. For any information you don't have or don't
know, simply
type unknown into those fields. There are, however, three
pieces of information that are definitely required (without this info
the registry wouldn't be a registry!):
- Model year (or 10th VIN digit)
- Note: The 10th VIN digit is
particularly important for those residing outside North America
where often registration plates are based on the year the car is
first registered. I.E. The plate might read "92", but the
car's model year is 1991. This registry requires the model
year not the registry year. ;)
- Sequential production number
- Car's status
The registry is for all Cabriolets, both living and dead.
Therefore, when you go to junkyards to find parts, make a note of the
VIN for any Cabriolets you find (even better: take photos of the car and
its build sheet sticker in the trunk if it still has it) and submit them
here! For junkyard cars, entering generic colors is fine (for
example, "red"); for any info about the junkyard car you don't know
simply enter "unknown" in the required fields.
If you have more than one Cabriolet/Rabbit Convertible, simply fill
the form out once for each car (or junkyard find). For those concerned
about security, be assured that without the entire 17-digit (or 10-digit
for '79/'80) VIN, no one can look up information about your specific
car, or about you personally. The photos are shrunk to fit in the table;
therefore, license plates are not legible. Additionally, last names and
cities will not be posted.
Below is the build sheet sticker. This sticker was placed on the crossbar
in the trunk of all Cabriolets at the factory. The numbers in the
submission form refer to the red numbers in this sample sticker:
