Cabby Info - Registry

The registry is for all Cabriolets, both living and dead. Therefore, when you go to junkyards to find parts, make a note of the VIN for any Cabriolets you find (even better: take photos of the car and its build sheet sticker in the trunk if it still has it) and submit them here! For junkyard cars, entering generic colors is fine (for example, "red"); for any info about the junkyard car you don't know simply enter "unknown" in the required fields.

If you have more than one Cabriolet/Rabbit Convertible, simply fill the form out once for each car (or junkyard find).

For those concerned about security, be assured that without the entire 17-digit (or 10-digit for '79/'80) VIN, no one can look up information about your specific car, or about you personally. The photos are shrunk to fit in the table; therefore, license plates are not legible. Additionally, last names and cities will not be posted.

Model Year*

Verify the car's year by making note of the 10th digit in the
VIN. Use the VIN decoder page if need be.

Sequential Production Number*

Last 6 digits of VIN. (#1 in the image below)

Build Date

Found on the ID plate stuck to the driver's (LHD) or

passenger's (RHD) door jamb. It is a month/year format date. This is
optional; if you'd rather not look it up or don't have it, no worries.

Cabriolet Model

Optional. If you know the model type, enter it here.

Paint Color Name/Code*

If the car has been repainted in a different color
from original, please also include the car's
original color if you can (#2 in the image below).

Top Color*

(If you know the car has a different color top from
original, please also include the car's original
top color if you can.)

Interior Code/Color

Optional. The code is indicated on the build sheet (#3 in the

image below); you can also use the Model/Interior Style pages

to determine the code.

Transmission*

Original Location

Country car was originally sold in (include
state/province, if known/desired).

Current Location*

Country (include state/province, if desired).

Status*

Living = Currently running, driving, and/or undergoing restoration.
Dying = Currently for sale by a junkyard/salvage yard,
rotting away in a back lot (has potential to be restored,

but most likely won't be).
Dead = In a salvage yard or being parted out with no chance to

be saved, or has been crushed.

Your Name

Optional, if you are the car's owner. If desired, enter only your

first name and/or your VW/Cabriolet forum username.

Attach Photo

Optional. If desired, attach one photo of the car. 1MB max file size.
