How to ask for help on car forums
  • Be as descriptive as you can when describing the problem(s).

  • Provide pictures, if possible.

  • Use punctuation.  At the very least break up long sentences into paragraphs and separate sentences with periods.

  • Absolutely, positively do not use texting shortcuts!  Many knowledgeable folks on car forums have this philosophy: If you do not take the time to type out a properly-worded posting, I'm not going to take the time to read it.

Do-It-Yourself Guides     (disregard the colors; they only have meaning to the site administrator & are temporary)

The following how-to guides are available in (PDF) and/or (HTML) formats (click on the format you wish to view).  The PDF guides were made for several reasons: 1) So that the images originally posted in online forum threads and on other web sites will never become broken links; 2) so that the guides will always be available, even if a web site goes down or if a forum site misplaces the threads; 3) so that multiple how-to's of the same topic can be combined into one guide; 4) so that forum-based guides are more concise and uncluttered and are, therefore, more easily read and printed.  All PDF guides contain images provided/owned by the original creator of each how-to unless otherwise specified; furthermore, all PDF guides have been edited for grammar, spelling & clarity.
