A red-orange paint that is a quintessential Golf color. Prior to 1980, the code for this paint was L31B; from 1980 onward, the paint code was LA3A and the color was officially known to VW as "Mars Red 80". The sales code for each remained G6. Mars Red is another color used on Porsche 924 and 911 in the same time period, albeit not nearly as popular with Porsche as it was with VW.
