The Quartett model allowed perspective Cabriolet buyers to choose from 64 possible color combinations (seen below).
Only the interior/top boot/carpet color combination could not be changed. For example, if you chose a white interior, it came with black carpet and a white top boot. The wheel could also not be changed (it was colored-coordinated to the car) unless you opted for a different color as an accessory (i.e. additional cost).
This model was referred to as Golf Cabriolet GTI in the United Kingdom, and was rarely referred to as "Quartett" in the UK until more modern times. With the introduction of the Sportline GTI and Rivage GTI, the Quartett GTI was dropped from the UK model line-up.
